15 Minute I.T.

About the owner and the company

Hello! My name is William and I am the creator of 15 Minute I.T. I would say that my love of technology started at a young age but that is not accurate. My love is not for I.T. but for discovery and education. I have always been an explorer at heart; to find the answers in the how and why of everyday things. My attitude is that if it exists then I am capable of it!

My professional career started back in college while I studied Computer Science, Computer Networking, Engineering, and Security. My friend donated two old desktops to me to do with as I pleased. I refurbished the desktops and sold them for $150 and 2 more broken computers. I turned those two computers in to another $350 and before I knew it, I'd paid for a college class. I kept this up all throughout college refurbishing T.V.s, gaming consoles, computers, cameras, phones, printers, and eventually, a car. There is no better experience than hands on and there is no better investment than in yourself!

My first official job was while I was still in college. I worked for a company that did technical support for colleges and universities all across the country. With an average of 65 technical calls a day, I would say that I was thrown in headfirst! Out of 150 hires, I was one out of three that were hired on full time. From there, I moved in to the I.T. department at Florida Hospital working on site with a team of about 15 other technicians. This was my first taste of networking and hands on support outside of my investments. After Florida Hospital, I worked for The Florida Association of Realtors. I provided technical services to Realtors and brokers. I made my next move into the Technical Services Group at Suntrust's corporate building in downtown Orlando where we tested and deployed new online platforms for the Treasury department. I completed about 350 hours of continuing education courses surrounding Networking, Security, Virtualization, Scripting, Penetration Testing, and Writing Policies and Procedures and completed several certifications all in my free time. I took that experience with me to my next job working for an MSP. This was my first real time managing Infrastructure 100% from top to bottom. I managed 35 primary clients and 35 secondary clients. My largest client averaged $100 million dollars a year with 7 locations and 150 employees. This was definitely one of my favorite positions but, unfortunately, Covid had other plans for me. I went several months without work. In that time, I sold gaming PCs and refurbished a few cars. After about 6 months of that, I landed a role as the I.T. Director of a UHS hospital in Maitland with support to two other hospitals in the Central Florida area. The week that I was hired, there was a ransomware attack on the corporate hosting site. Within 3 weeks, we were the 7th hospital back up and mostly operational. Alongside the complete and speedy recovery of all hospital systems, I also managed the complete overhaul of the phone systems, the security systems, all rack switches, all rewiring and cabling of 3 facilities, complete documentation, and renewed vendor relationships. One day, I was training with a friend at my gym when he mentioned that he was having trouble finding an engineer to work in his datacenter. I interviewed with his company and accepted the position of Engineer and have been helping to manage backup storage and hosting up to the time that I started this company. I don't just sit complacent waiting on experience to happen, I make IT happen every day!

I love the idea of 15 Minute I.T. because it is a system that has taken years of other business' mistakes, years of customer feedback, years of personal experience and it culminates in to one idea. The idea is that your business should never be without affordable, available I.T. support. You don't have to know what your needs are. You don't have to worry about being taken advantage of. I am not here to run up the clock or serve you hour minimums. I believe in the idea of microtransactions; that there is enough work to be done to keep us both profitable. I believe that when someone charges $150 to fix a single issue, I can solve 5 issues for the same $150. I believe that when someone says "Gee, I'm not sure about that one" that I can come back and say "I got that taken care of for you". I believe that when someone says that they can get back to you "soon" that I can be available in a time that suits you. Mostly, I just believe in myself and you should too. That is the integrity and promise of 15 Minute I.T.
